Frequently Asked Questions

Starting a yoga practice can be scary. And while we believe that yoga is for everybody, not every style of yoga is appropriate for every body. It’s important to find the style (and teacher) that’s right for you!  You can always schedule a private session to let Maura support you on your journey.

Look for more beginners styles of yoga like yin, restorative, beginners, gentle and basics. And to be honest, you might have to try a few different classes until you know for sure!  Search Maura’s On-Demand Library

Look for basic classes so you can get familiar with the poses and lingo. Feeling adventurous and what something more vigorous? Hop into a Vinyasa class. Looking for something more chill to complement your other movement? Try out a yin class – it’s the best! Either way – give it a few tries to find a groove and what works for you. Search Maura’s On-Demand Library.

Welcome back! Take your time easing back into your practice so you don’t get injured. Try one of these programs to reassess where you are: Get (Back) Into the Groove (Vinyasa based) or Home-Body (Basics + Meditation). Then go from there!

I’m interested in attending a workshop, event or retreat but am nervous and don’t know what to expect. Help!

Ha – yes! And I promise you’ll live to tell about it. This is part of how we make connections, friends and community as adults! But you’ll also be able to opt-out if you want, too.

Great question! You’ll deepen your practice which could mean learning about different poses, concepts or philosophies that are more complex than we have time for in a regular class. You’ll also most likely explore a new place,  new food, new people etc for a really rich, transformative experience. And if you’re coming on retreat, I promise you’ll wonder why it took you so long to do something like this for yourself!

No! Most of Maura’s offerings are for folks of all different skill levels. If experience is preferred or required, it will be noted.

Maura is a pro at communication and logistics. Anything you need will be shared with you well in advance – from BYOmat to required readings to packing lists, trust you’re in the hands of an event expert!

Connect directly with Maura. She’ll do everything she can to accommodate you and 95% of the time this is totally possible. She never wants anyone to miss out! She’ll also be honest with you if it’s not the best event for you. For example, if you are gluten and dairy intolerant, one of her retreats to the Himalayan Institute might be better for you than her trip to Italy. But let’s talk about it!

Absolutely. Many people do! And, there’s something to be said about coming with a friends. It totally depends on the event. Looking to study or retreat? This can be awesome solo time to reconnect to yourself. Want to come to a Treetop Class? The more the merrier when it comes to community events. Ultimately, you do you and either is great!
